WLR Precision provides subcontract CNC machining for manufacturers, engineering companies and machinery builders across the UK.
From one-off components and prototypes through to repeat production batches, we manufacture precision parts to customer drawings, CAD models and specifications using an extensive range of CNC milling, turning and inspection equipment.
Established in 1969, our Nottingham manufacturing facility combines experienced precision engineers with modern CNC technology, comprehensive inspection and full material and component traceability.
A CNC Machining Supplier for Complex Requirements
Choosing the right CNC machining supplier is about more than simply finding available machine capacity.
Component quality, repeatability, inspection, traceability and reliable communication can all have a direct impact on your own production schedule.
WLR provides a complete subcontract machining service covering CNC milling, CNC turning, 4 and 5-axis machining, ultra-precision machining and CNC inspection.
Our capabilities allow us to support customers from initial prototypes and development parts through to small and medium production batches.
Where appropriate, components can also be supplied with outsourced coatings, plating, heat treatment and other specified processes, reducing the number of separate suppliers you need to manage.
Prototype, One-Off and Repeat Batch Machining
Not every requirement involves thousands of identical parts.
WLR is equipped to manufacture prototypes, development components, one-off parts and repeat production batches.
For new components, our engineers can work from customer drawings and electronic model files. Once a part has been established, CNC programs and manufacturing information can support consistency across future repeat orders.
For larger or repeat requirements, multi-pallet machining, automated equipment and bar-fed CNC turning provide efficient production options.
Materials We Machine
Our machining capabilities cover a wide range of engineering materials.
These include aluminium, stainless steel, brass, titanium, Inconel, Super Duplex, Invar, Kovar, Toughmet, beryllium copper, Nibron and engineering plastics including PEEK and acetal.
Components can also be supplied with specified finishing and treatment processes including anodising, chrome and nickel plating, Xylan, HVOF plasma coatings, heat treatment, hardness testing and NDE where required.
Precision, Inspection and Traceability
Quality control is built into the manufacturing process.
WLR’s inspection department includes CNC coordinate measuring machines, scanning equipment, optical measurement and specialist inspection technology.
Material and component traceability is available through WLR’s computerised production systems, helping customers maintain the records required for quality-critical and regulated supply chains.
For particularly demanding components, WLR’s KERN ultra-precision machining capability can achieve tolerances down to micron levels where the component and application require it.
What Should I Send for a CNC Machining Quote?
To help us assess your subcontract machining requirement, send as much information as possible about the component.
Ideally this should include a technical drawing or CAD model, required material, quantities, critical tolerances, surface finish, any coating or treatment requirements, inspection or certification requirements and your required delivery date.
Our team can then review the most appropriate machining and inspection route for the component.
